2017 Quiksilver Foundation Reveg Day

Quiksilver Foundation Revegetation Day Torquay 2017 from quiksilver on Vimeo.

The Quiksilver Foundation teamed up with the Surfcoast Landcare Group for their 10th year in a row, committing to revegetating Torquay's vast coastal area.

Quiksilver runs an employee volunteer program which provides an important social opportunity to interact and engage in numerous programs developed by the Quiksilver Foundation, partnering with groups in our community.

The Revegetation Project has worked on several sites along the Surfcoast, however due to its fragile state for the fifth year the focus has been on Bowmans Track - Spring Creek region. This area is particularly significant and important as it is becoming increasingly surrounded by urban development and associated use for a range of recreational activities. We gathered down at Spring Creek Reserve to partake in Tree Planting which is ideally in Quiksilver's backyard, being the wildlife pathway that separates Torquay from Jan Juc leading into the Torquay Surf Beach. This year we had around 60 employees from Quiksilver, ROXY and DC including 20 children to help plant and mulch the surrounding areas of Spring Creek.

Over the past 5 years, it has been amazing to watch the area of Spring Creek grow and flourish with the help of the conservation efforts the community has put in, the results are incredible. Something that the Quiksilver Foundation and all of our employees are very proud of. Check out some of the moments from the day below.

Considerable planning, first with the local indigenous community, followed by onsite meetings and site preparation with the Surf Coast Shire are needed to organise the day. Westcoast Indigenous Plants Nursery collected seed and propagated all the plants, including the 10,000 grasses and trees that have been planted during these Revegetation days over the past 10 years
