Round 1 of the Quiksilver Pro France, Stop No. 9 of 11 on the 2015 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour, was completed today in clean six-to-eight foot (2 - 2.5 metre waves) at Culs Nus.

Offshore winds groomed the solid swell on offer, creating a tube riding feast for the world’s best surfers, who proceeded to put on a high-performance surfing spectacle for the thousands on the beach and millions watching online and via broadcasts around the world.

Heat 3 saw the first 9 point rides with Julian Wilson dropping a 9.50 and a 9.30 consecutively, winning the heat. In heat 6, Mick Fanning raced through a heavy overhead barrel and scored a 9.73 winning the heat.

Defending champion, John John Florence, scored the highest score of round 1 with a 9.93 sitting deep in a hollow barrel and finishing off with an impressive layback.

The final big score of round one was in heat 9 by Adrian Buchan. He sailed through a perfect barrel and finished with a beautiful cutback in a rare left hand barrel and scored a 9.50.
