Last week the doors at Galerie Joseph in Paris’ Las Marais quarter opened to an exhibition dedicated to the 30 year anniversary of The Eddie Big Wave invitational and the most iconic figures of Hawaiian surfing.

Taken through the lens of Bernard Testemale were a collection of portraits captured using a technique developed over 150 years ago. Faces of World champions from past and present such as Kelly Slater, Tom Curren and Tom Carroll sit next to surfing legends like Titus Kinimaka, Mickey Munoz, Clyde Aikau and Mel Puu.

Present on the night paying their respects to the deep Hawaiian heritage and their shared passion for riding gigantic waves were the likes of Jeremy Flores, Koa Rothman, Freddy Patacchia, Pete Mel and Julian Wilson, along with the sports heroes Shawn Stussy and Brad Gerlach.

The exhibition will travel to New York, Tokyo and Hawaii and the book "The Big Wave Riders Of Hawaii” will be available from November 1.
