#QuikPro: Rounds 3, 4 and 5 wrap-up

Round 3, heat 1 kicked off early with Brazilian rookie Italo Ferreira taking on Kelly Slater. After a board swap for Slater the waves didn’t deliver and Ferreira won the heat with 13.00 against 8.77 with the first upset of the day.

#QuikPro: Round 2 wrap-up

After 11 consecutive lay days, Round 2 finally got underway in two to three foot conditions with Mick Fanning against Dane Reynolds in Heat 1. Mick Fanning utilised the knowledge of his home break with the highest score of the heat with a 8.50. In fairly slow conditions, Fanning kept busy and took the heat with 15.50 against Reynolds’ 9.43.

Wiggolly Dantas: The Coolest Name in Surfing

Wiggolly Dantas is not your typical Brazilian surfer. He loves big waves, he surfs with a powerful rail game and is part of the Da hui family. 2015 marks Wiggolly’s maiden year on tour and instead of rolling with the Brazilian pack, he chooses to pave his own path. Dane Reynolds: comp quiver

When you’re a grommet and you find out you’re going to be sponsored, it’s pretty much a dream come true. When you’re a sponsored grommet and you’re flown to the Quik Pro for two weeks to sit in the Snapper lineup and be sprayed in the face by world champions, be given tips on what it’s like being a pro surfer by Jeremy Flores and Freddy P and have a professional photographer teach you how to get the sickest shot, that’s just next level. Kehu Butler from New Zealand, Lennox Shell from Avoca, Rio Waida from Indonesia, Kael Walsh from Western Australia and Marco Mignot from France have been living the dream and now they've got the taste of life on tour, there's no turning back.

Round 1 completed at Day 1 of the Quik Pro

Round 1 of the Quik Pro kicked off at 8am today with Brett Simpson taking the first wave soon after the starter horn in heat 1 against Joel Parkinson and Miguel Pupo. Parko took out the heat with 15.16.

Freddy Patacchia had a great start to the comp winning heat 3 with a score of 17.06 against Kelly Slater’s 14.43 and CJ Hobgood’s 12.50.

John John Florence took out the first high score of the day in heat 4 with a 9.70.

Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast: Kicking Off The 2015 World Championship Tour

The WSL Championship tour is going to kick off on February 28 at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast.

Current world champion, Gabriel Medina took out the first of his three tour wins at last year’s Quiksilver Pro will no doubt be chasing another Snapper victory this year. With only a few weeks to go, the world's 34 top surfers are ready to kick off the 2015 World Championship Tour. Some have spent the past few months charging on the North Shore while others have been shredding their home breaks – and they will bring their progression, innovation and froth to Snapper Rocks.
